WetinBe is aware of the huge churn of computer equipment in the West, particularly in large organisations, who are often encouraged to abandon the use of perfectly useable and serviceable computer equipment due to taxation issues, or software changes.

WetinBe is glad to accept your donations of any computer equipment that runs off a DC voltage.
We will reformat the hard drives of this equipment and refurbish it locally, using local labour in the regions we operate. This will give training and employment to disadvantaged youths and once the equipment is wiped clean it is offered to Community Organisations for use through their Social Access Links.

In almost all cases this donated equipment is given to schools Social Access Links so they can increase their Computer Training capacity. It is never re-sold, and WetinBe ensures that arrangements are put in place to ensure that the donated equipment is not abused or resold. These arrangements include:

  • Permanent marking by engraving
  • Agreements with local communities as part of the Community Access Link to Safeguard the equipment
  • Agreeing a nominated person who is responsible for the maintenenace

In all instances we will be glad to give you details of the end user of the equipment where possible, and by making contact you might just make a whole bunch of very appreciative new friends!!

Computer Equipment we are glad to recycle includes:

Working Lap Top Computers Pentium 1 and above-with a mains voltage to 12v reduction plug
Working Home Routers- with a mains voltage to 12v reduction plug
Working Printers- with a mains voltage to 12v reduction plug
USB type Plug in Memory Sticks of any description
Blank CDs
USB type Plug in ancillary hard drives
Sealed Windows Disks from Windows 95 onwards

Unfortunately we cannot accept desk top pc’s, or any 110/ 240 volt computer equipment.
If you are not sure of the working voltage on the equipment you want to donate, just use the contact button and let us know the manufacturer and model name and we will check and confirm back to you.
Generally, if the item you are thinking of donating does not have a plug or in-line transformer that reduces the mains voltage to DC voltage we cannot accept it as, at this time as all equipment we use has to be suitable for direct connection to batteries.

Remember the majority of our internet installations and Social Access Links are solar powered, and as far as possible we do not use mains electricity.

All your donations are gratefully received and will genuinely change many students’ lives for the better, and will go a huge way towards empowering  less advantaged communities way into the future.
